DR. JOHN P. SCHUTZ
Dr. John Schutz is the Managing Veterinarian of Pawling Animal Clinic. He is a graduate of Cornell University and began practicing veterinary medicine with his father, Dr. Fred Schutz, at Brewster Veterinary Hospital (BVH) in Brewster, N.Y. After his father's retirement, Dr. Schutz purchased BVH and owned and operated it until 1986.
At that time, Dr. Schutz sold BVH and traveled with his wife, Donna, to the agrarian regions of Zaire, E. Africa, (now Democratic Republic of Congo) where he served for several years as a veterinary missionary.
In 1993, following his return from Africa, Dr. Schutz purchased Pawling Animal Clinic and has been providing excellent care to the pet population of the greater Pawling area ever since.
On a personal note, Dr. Schutz and his wife Donna live in Brewster with their three cats, Josie, Beckham, and Rusty - all unwanted adult cats abandoned at the Clinic. They have two adult children and seven grandchildren who know him as “Poppy.” During his free time, you can usually find Dr. Schutz engrossed in a home renovation or landscaping project, or maybe taking a grandchild for a ride on the back of his quad!
Dr. and Mrs. Schutz continue to be involved with the ministry of the Lake Kivu Christian Center in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, and visit annually.
