Dr. Jankunas’ love of animals drew her to the field of veterinary medicine at an early age. Her favorite aspect of being a vet is providing excellent care to her patients, as well as educating pet parents about important aspects of maintaining good health. She enjoys working with all animals, but admits to having a particular fondness for felines. Dr. Jankunas makes it her policy to provide stress-free visits for all of her patients and will never rush through an appointment; she is happy spend extra time with nervous patients so that she can help them relax and have a positive experience at the vet’s office.
Dr. Jankunas enjoys photography, football, and visiting local wineries and breweries in the Hudson Valley. She is a board member and volunteer with the Junior League, a national organization of women promoting philanthropy in the local community. She serves on the board of the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society and is also a member of several veterinary organizations such as the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and American Association of Feline Practitioners. She has written articles for the Poughkeepsie Journal and maintains a blog on the Companion Pet Hospital website. In 2017, she received the “40 Under 40” award from the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce for her contributions to the community. Dr. Jankunas and Dr. Frederick are the proud parents of Jaxson (their son), Stella (the Golden Retriever), and Walker (the Persian cat).
